SECRETS BEYOND SCYMARIA REVIEWS
11/10/15: (book three)
Always trying to be a good grandmother, I review books before giving them to my grandchildren. I went beyond that with the Scymarian and read the whole thing. I got caught up in the story. It has everything from great characters to adventure, nature, relationships and life lessons. All family friendly. Now I will pass the book on to my eleven-year-old granddaughter.
10/13/15: (book two)
Thoroughly enjoyable! This second installment in the Scymaria has intrigue, adventure and fantastical imagery. It's an enjoyable story crafted with lots of imagination. We get to know our returning characters on a deeper level as they venture through new vistas. I am looking forward to the third book!
10/5/15: (book three)
Good clean book for middle graders. Third in the series and hopefully not the last. Characters take you on a journey of the soul and mind.
9/25/15: (book one)
An engaging, easy read. Hard to put down, Secrets Beyond Scymaria takes you into the life of teenagers Amy and Ty as they cope with a secret in their town. An unexpected twist towards the end fills you with hope for the future - and the next book! This is a very short read, and you can easily get through it in one to two sittings. I love imaginative young adult fantasy, and this is a promising start to a new series. Grab a copy - you won't be disappointed!
5/21/15: (book two)
This book grabbed my attention from the very first line. I enjoyed being taken on an adventure and can't wait to read the next book!
12/17/14: (book one)
I loved the story and I actually dislike fantasy kinda books-the ridiculous difficult names of the characters and places always keep me from being connected to the story because of having to stop to get the names in my head. I like how DJ Smith let me creep into the story right along with the characters, was happy not to have to do a stumble over pronunciations, and totally enjoyed Secrets Beyond Scymaria. I could feel the humor, anxiety, and everything the characters were going through.
My inner (wannabe) botanist was so excited about the concept of the book, the save the planet, conversations without oration and a small town with a protected secret.
I think people will be surprised at who the "friend" is. A short story, but a good read that I recommend .
**I was given a copy of the novel for an honest review.

3/31/14: (book one)
My daughter, I. Luccketta, a soon too be 13 year old, LOVED this book. She said it was an easier read than the book she just last finished (War of the Worlds), but that is was filled with fun and intrigue. She knows a new one in the series is coming out soon and she is so very excited. She doesn't get on the computer much and asked me to post this for her. As a mother I am overjoyed that she loves this series. It is a clean and wholesome tale filled with twists and turns best suited for the active "tweener."
